In this post you’ll learn:
- What is imposter syndrome
- How to not focus on the “numbers”
- The importance of mindset
- Why you are capable of achieving your dreams
- Affirmations to overcome imposter syndrome
What Is Imposter Syndrome?
Imposter syndrome is when you doubt your abilities and feel fraudulent or unworthy of your pursuits. It’s important to know the difference between this feeling and the fact that you can launch the podcast (or business) of your dreams. Will it be challenging along the way? Yes. Is it more than possible? Also yes!
The first step to becoming a successful podcaster is recognizing that you’re already doing the thing! You ARE a podcaster, even if you don’t have tons of listeners or a huge brand yet. You were meant to do this.
Lead from that place whenever you’re recording an episode, talking about your podcast, and engaging with your audience.
And remember to always come back to your purpose — WHY you started your podcast.
The Importance of Your “Why”
So often we see people get caught up in the numbers, like:
- How many downloads do I have?
- Do I have enough followers on Instagram?
- How much revenue am I making?
While these questions are important, your podcast starts with your passion and creativity. When we started our podcast, we didn’t pay attention to the numbers.
Instead, we really focused on creating quality, consistent content that we LOVED making. And guess what? The audience came! We grew organically and it felt right.
It’s totally normal to fall into the trap of imposter syndrome and think: “Why am I special? Why should anyone care what I have to say when there are so many podcasts out there?”
There are a lot of podcasts, but there is only one you.

Your voice and your perspective are absolutely unique. We encourage you to work with daily affirmations to help overcome imposter syndrome (it has really helped us).
Some of our favorite affirmations to overcome imposter syndrome are:
- “I am serving the world with my voice.”
- “My voice is powerful.”
- “I am living my purpose.”
- “My intention is to speak authentically.”
- “I am confident in who I am and what I do.”
- “I trust myself to make good decisions.”
Everyone experiences imposter syndrome, so you are absolutely not alone. Ask yourself, “If they can do it, then why can’t I?”
Even if you can think of a number of excuses why you can’t or shouldn’t pursue your dreams, re-focus on your why. Then, remind yourself of who YOU are.
Your “why,” combined with your individuality, is a recipe for magic and can never be replicated. How beautiful is that?!
