Lacy Phillips, global manifestation expert and the force behind To Be Magnetic, is one of our dear friends and we’ve had her on the pod four times now! Every time she comes back, we’re blown away. There is so much to learn from her, and she’s incredibly generous with her wisdom and energy.
Some of our favorite topics to explore with Lacy are shadow work, subconscious reprogramming, and attachment styles. We want to share some of what we’ve learned from her to support you on your own inner work journey.
A lot of people talk about shadow work and its benefits but they don’t always say how hard it can be. Honestly…oh man, it can be TOUGH. We’ve both felt it as we were going through it.
What we talked about with Lacy is that it can feel like your life is out of control, and that you’re not worthy of all the good things in your life as you get really deep into that shadow work. It’s like a crab shell analogy — it’s vulnerable, lonely, and confronting when you’re inside that shadow work. But then…you do come out of that shell! There is SUCH a heaping reward at the end, and we’ve seen it in our relationships, work, family, and friendships.
In doing that shadow work, attachment styles can also come up. Lacy touched on her feeling anxious attachment — she often questions herself and asks, “did I upset that person?” or starts thinking “I’m not as gifted” or “they can find someone better.” During shadow work, a lot of these types of thoughts can arise, but Lacy gave us such great advice: all that matters is getting back to feeling secure in ourselves.
We also chatted with Lacy about how important it is to acknowledge what types of feelings you’re having as you do shadow work. Are you dog paddling and anxious? Maybe that means you’re fearful and afraid that you don’t have control. Or is your style avoidance? This could show up as not taking any steps to change, not caring, or feeling lackadaisical.
Or maybe you realize that you’re secure — you’re in your worth, you know how this will go, and you know the universe will support you. Whatever you’re feeling during this process is totally okay! Energetically it’s all about taking inventory. We ask ourselves what energetic steps to take subconsciously and consciously to get back to secure.
In the end, it’s really all about us getting back into our whole, authentic selves. It’s something that we work on every single day, and we hope this will help you as you navigate your own journey.
